Definition
High-strength packaging paper made from long-fiber wood pulp via the kraft (sulfate) process; known for excellent tensile, tear, and burst strength, stiffness, and puncture resistance.

 

Types

Unbleached Kraft (Brown): Natural brown tone, very tough, rustic/eco look.

Bleached Kraft (White): High whiteness for clean branding and better print fidelity; available one- or two-sided white.

 

Basis Weights (Typical)

70–200 gsm: Bags, wraps, liners.

200–350 gsm: Handles, covers, laminating/box wrap.

 

Key Properties

High strength; good stiffness and dimensional stability.

Good printability; low cracking risk when properly scored.

Resistant to abrasion and puncture.

 

Converting & Printing

Compatible with offset / flexo / gravure / UV.

Scores, folds, and glues well with appropriate grain and creasing.

 

Barrier / Functional Options

PE / CPP / PLA coatings or laminations for moisture, grease, and heat-seal performance.

Water-based barrier coatings available where plastic-free is preferred.

 

Common Uses
Shopping bags, e-commerce mailers, foodservice sacks, gift box wrap/liners, protective interleaves, labels/hangtags (heavier grades).

Widely recyclable; available with FSC® and recycled-content options.
